His Excellency Abdullah Musleh Al Ahbabi, Chairman of ADSSC, visited the site for checking the progress on the program accompanied with Engineer Mubarak Obeid Al Dhaheri, Deputy Managing Director of ADSSC along with the project team in the station, on 31st July 2016.
H.E Abdullah Ahbabi, said that the enhancement program walks on the shadows of clear visions and carefully planned Projects to achieve their strategic goals, varying between their aspirations and Abu Dhabi’s in order to accomplish the State’s vision which is represented in the sublime means determined by the wise sight of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President to create a globally competitive, and to insure constant progress to develop a safe, confident, constructive, continuing, opened and competitive future in cooperation with related authorities.
ADSSC Chairman confirmed that ADSSC is working to support the accomplishments that were achieved by the State in different fields reaching to the Social and Economics comprehensive and progressive Development under the guidance and advice of their Highnesses, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Deputy President of the Executive Council, they throughout determining policies, strategies, enhancing services and rooting new work plans to guarantee a better projects with the best international standards to reach a sophisticated and technologically advanced projects that could bring in more investments and develop the relations with the private sector.
Enhancements of the program reached about 5.7 Billion AED which makes this project the best economical solutions for it represents a new system of sewerage services, efficiently working to serve the requirements of the great population and constructions in Abu Dhabi and its Suburbs. It also gives more efficient solutions, environmental-friendly with low Carbon Emissions. Finally, it gives long-term solutions that could fit the vision of Abu Dhabi by the year 2030.
STEP consists of deep tunnel with length of 41 Km and 5.5 internal Diameter; it also has a link sewers with length of 45 Km connecting 34 stations built in the deep tunnel and which are planned to be removed until Al Wathba Pumping Station which has a capacity of 1.9 million Cubic Meters and located at the end of the deep tunnel’s path.
Establishing one pumping station at the end of the tunnel in Al Wathba to convey wastewater to the treatment plants, with a capacity of 30 cubic meters per second with depth of 100 meters underground and 50 internal diameters. This makes the project one of the biggest in the world.
During his inspection tour, Al Ahbabi went through all phases of STEP and sites of work, whereas accomplishment percentage of the project was revealed of about 92% of the tunnel and 100% of the first phase of the project. However, concerning the second phase of the project (which is the link sewers and sub-network) the work is 100% done.
In addition, the third phase is in an advanced level in terms of the main pumping station in Al Wathba; most construction works are completed for each, pumping stations and the surrounding buildings; offices, electricity rooms, generators and internal byways. In addition to the before mentioned, Eight pumps were assembled to accommodate about 1.9 million cubic meters per day, two 40 megawatt electricity generators, other generators and all required electricity wires were assembled.
At the end of the tour, his Excellency expressed his gratitude and cherishment for the great efforts by the staff and their concerns to support and develop all projects in different governmental agencies and carry the level of services to its highest including infrastructure constructions.
